You know me as someone who likes to shake it up. It was in 2014 when my life was shaken up for the worse as I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. The following months I recovered from a double mastectomy and radiation. Treatment was an uncomfortable and exhausting journey, but a successful one!
And yet, out of these obstacles came great beauty: I realized how precious life is, and how blessed I was to have my network of friends and family to get me through those dark days.
Encouragement and support from other survivors make a breast cancer diagnosis more bearable. It’s with this crucial support network in mind that I’ve decided to shake things up -- literally shake my booty -- for the benefit of the Pink House, a community “home base” founded by Carolina Breast Friends that provides education, encouragement and friendship for survivors.
I’ve accepted the challenge to join 12 other contestants in “Dancing with the Stars of Charlotte” to benefit the Pink House. For the next 5 months, I’ll be training with a professional dance partner, Dmitriy Solomakha, to prepare for the big event on March 30th. You know I love a challenge, but more importantly, this huge time and physical commitment demonstrates my desire to honor and care for courageous women here in Charlotte fighting for their lives.
Your donation will help the Pink House succeed in serving women at every stage of their treatment. Please know that your support at any level is deeply appreciated.
Every donation you make through this page gets me closer to being this year's fundraising winner--but, more importantly, it supports the services Carolina Breast Friends provides for those with breast cancer in the greater Charlotte community. So, I'm very excited to participate in this years event! How much can we raise together?

It was here that Kat co-founded the company ADDISON WEEKS with longtime business partner Lee Addison Lesley.
Today, the two have had national success with their line of jewelry, most recently appearing on Good Morning America and being selected as one of Oprah's Favorite Things in 2016. As a result of their love of gemstone jewelry, they have started a line of semi-precious hardware that adds an instant update to cabinets or furniture.
