It is such a dream come true for me to take the stage with Dancing with the Stars of Charlotte because I love, love, love the work Carolina Breast Friends does through the Pink House! I benefited tremendously from their services seven years ago when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I am beyond thrilled to pay it forward — both in honor of all my breast cancer sisters who came before me, and to help my future sisters-in-need.
As a breast cancer survivor, the challenge of dancing is a physical feat I'm so excited to conquer. And as a competitor, I want to be this year’s fundraising winner! That’s where you come in. You can help me so much by voting with your charitable dollars. Every dollar you give counts as a vote for me. Let’s rock this vote! Thank you in advance for your generosity — it really matters to this wonderful mission.
More about Mary Bryan:
Mary Bryan (yes, she goes by both names - it’s a southern thing) graduated from Salem College with a degree in business management and worked in business and banking in Charlotte for many years before “retiring” to raise her children. She is the proud wife of 25 years to Van Smith of The Bledsoe Cathcart Group, Merrill Lynch.
As she raised her children, Mary Bryan volunteered in Charlotte in many capacities. But it was not until after being diagnosed with breast cancer that Mary Bryan found her true career and calling: inspiring others to be their strongest selves, whether in their pursuit of personal fitness goals or in their own battles with breast cancer. So she came out of retirement to become an ASCM certified personal trainer. She launched MBfit Charlotte, and has worked with the Prescriptive Fitness team for 7 years and ThriveCarolinas since their opening in 2017.
Mary Bryan was initially drawn into fundraising and awareness events for Susan G. Komen by her compassionate daughter at the time of Mary Bryan’s diagnosis, and now gratefully serves as a contact and inspiration for breast cancer survivors both locally and nationwide.
